Many clients seek out individual therapy without realizing their concerns are relational by nature and that many factors (including people) contribute to our moods, emotions, thoughts and behaviors. My approach takes a humanistic, trauma informed, attachment perspective, where the ‘self’ is considered in constant construction and is shaped by interactions with key others.
I work with individual clients to develop a deeper understanding of engrained core beliefs, patterns, and lost parts of self. Together, we explore how the client’s story is influenced by past relationships with caregivers, friends and partners. Additionally, we look at relationships to larger systems, such as, culture and race, and how they impact the client’s experience and approach to life.
I strive to help individuals embrace vulnerability and authentic emotion in a balanced way, so that they may confidently engage with all parts of self and life’s challenges.
